Striped Bass, Weakfish and Fly Fishing Photos
(back
to Fishing Photo Pages Index)
Yea, these are some of the thousands
of striper fishing pictures I have...I could bore you with tons, but I won't!
:) Coming soon, some of my fresh water adventure photo's....like the 22#
Musky that ate a minnow in the middle of the night on 4# test and a trout rod
with no leader...or the nearly 12# Walleyes that gobbled up Rapalas in the middle
of the night in Canada!

Charlie and I, me on the left. This is the biggest striper I've personally ever taken...51 1/2" long, 44 1/4#. It took, of all things, a 6" Schoolbus Bomber...and on a 6' Berkley Lightning Rod, a small spinning reel, and 10# test...quite a handful! This happened in 1987...and not since! Well, I've stuck 'em this big...but now that I have the "right" tackle, I can't seem to land 'em! :( |

This fat weakfish weighed 10lb 9oz...it was landed using 8# class tippet and if approved, would more than double the existing world record!
This one weighed 5lb 10oz...it was subdued on 2# class tippet! That stuff is about 1/2 as thin as spider web. The first hit when trying for the record, I hooked and busted the fly off before the line came tight! This was the second hit, if approved, would almost double the existing world record...hey, I tried! ;^) Both these fish were landed on a soft
action Orvis 9wt, a System II 8/9 reel, and Orvis intermediate shooting
head, and Orvis tippet. I was surprised the rod was soft enough to
cushion the 2# tippet against the second trout...it handled just fine! |

Last years biggest fish for me, 35#, on a rigged eel just before one of the many hurricanes that hit our shores last year. I didn't measure it.
Above, a couple years ago, with a fish around 20 taken from my friends Ted's boat while wire line trolling. There is nothing like wire line trolling for stripers, some heavy fish get taken that way and it's quite unique...and Ted's one of the best at it! Note the white skin, that's from only fishing at night! |
Above and below are pictures of a 15#
I took last fall on a fly rod...the fish took a homemade popper when
the mullet were running...God, I love them mullet! That was my biggest
surf fly rod fish last fall, not a bad one either... Below is a 31 pound specimen I took
on a bomber in May inside Sandy Hook, it was a beautiful, fat fish.
One of my biggest fish on the 6" schoolbus bomber, second only
to the 44 pounder at the top of the page! Gotta love them bombers! |
