Kayak fishing is revolutionizing the way many people pursue their finned quarry. On the east coast, kayaks have enable anglers to chase striped bass, weakfish, fluke, bluefish, false albacore, bonito and Spanish mackerel in places they could never fish before. Other less likely species that east coast paddle fishing anglers have been known to pursue are porgies, seabass, blackfish and even winter flounder. Kayak fishing will never replace surf fishing in my mind, but as our beaches get more crowded every season, the kayak has become an easy and almost natural extension of surf fishing. They are easy to transport, easy to launch and add an entirely new dimension to inshore fishing.
